Online English Tutoring in Taipei: Every Exam Centre We Track, the Busiest Schedules
Taipei families have an advantage no other city has: all three of the Cambridge exam centres we track run sittings here, so nobody travels to sit. The hard part is fitting lessons in. PLI lessons are online, 45 minutes, four students at most, Monday to Saturday between 2:00 and 9:00 PM, so English stops being one more place to drive to.
Cambridge exam venues in Taipei: all three centres we track
Taipei is the only city where all three centres we track schedule sittings: yle.tw, the LTTC on the National Taiwan University campus, and the Taipei YMCA, whose exams are held at the Wanhua hall, 290 Kunming Street, Wanhua District. Taipei sittings still open for 2026:
| Level | Taipei sittings still open in 2026 |
|---|---|
| Cambridge YLE | 13 Dec (Taipei YMCA) · 20 Dec (yle.tw and LTTC) |
| KET and PET for Schools | 6 Dec (Taipei YMCA) · 12 Dec (LTTC, B1 Preliminary only) · 20 Dec (Taipei YMCA) |
| B2 First for Schools (FCE) | 12 Dec (Taipei YMCA), the only one left at the three centres we track in 2026 |
Each sitting has its own deadline, and the Taipei YMCA registers by post or at the counter, with the postmark counting. Full deadlines, fees and paper timings are on our 2026–2027 Cambridge exam dates page, which also has a city-by-city breakdown.
Living in Taipei does not guarantee a place. A sitting closes when it fills, which comes before the deadline: yle.tw's 6 December Taipei KET/PET session is already full. What Taipei gives you is a second centre offering the same level.
Families in New Taipei and Keelung: none of the three centres schedules a sitting in either, so Taipei is your nearest.
Why Taipei parents choose PLI
Far smaller than a buxiban
In a big class, a child might speak only once or twice in a whole lesson. PLI groups are capped at four, so your child speaks in every lesson instead of just listening.
Exam prep for private-school students
Teacher Matt specialises in international and private school curricula and in KET, PET and FCE preparation; in these three exams, PLI students have a 100% pass rate to date.
Times that fit the child
Weekday evenings and Saturday afternoons. 1-on-1 slots are set around your child rather than a fixed timetable.
No lock-in contracts
PLI has no long-term contracts and no cancellation fees. Students stay more than three years on average, kept by visible weekly progress, not paperwork.
Common goals for Taipei students
- Secondary-school exams: KET · PET · FCE
- Elementary foundations: Cambridge YLE, where results are shields and there is no fail
- Study-abroad plans: TOEFL · SAT · Duolingo English Test
- Speaking work: from high written scores to confident conversation
- Working towards Flyers: how to learn the Flyers word list
Tell us your child's school and goals on LINE and we'll suggest a starting point. Families in Hsinchu and Kaohsiung face a different picture, and those pages cover it.
Taipei parents often ask
Can my child sit a Cambridge exam in Taipei, and are there many dates?
Of the three centres we track, Taipei has by far the most dates, and all three run sittings there: yle.tw, the LTTC at National Taiwan University and the Taipei YMCA. Taipei sittings still open for 2026 include YLE on 13 and 20 December, KET/PET on 6, 12 (LTTC, B1 Preliminary only) and 20 December, and B2 First for Schools (FCE) on 12 December. The full dates and deadlines are on our Cambridge exam dates page.
Does living in Taipei guarantee a place?
No. A sitting closes the moment it is full, which comes before the deadline: yle.tw’s 6 December Taipei KET/PET session is already full for 2026. What Taipei does give you is a second route at the same level: that session is full, but the Taipei YMCA also runs Key/Preliminary for Schools on 6 and 20 December. Put the deadline in your calendar as soon as you decide to sit.
What about families in New Taipei or Keelung?
None of the three centres on our dates page schedules a sitting in New Taipei or Keelung, so Taipei is the nearest. It makes no difference to the lessons, which are entirely online; only exam day means a trip to a Taipei venue.
Taipei kids have packed schedules. Can lessons fit?
Yes. Lessons run Monday to Saturday, 2:00 to 9:00 PM, 45 minutes each, and 1-on-1 slots are set around your child. With no commute, English stops being one more place to drive to.
