Yes — it's free, and there's nothing to prepare: a quiet spot and a computer or tablet with internet is all you need. It's a 45-minute online lesson that I teach myself, and I assess your child's listening, speaking, reading and writing as we go. Afterwards I'll tell you straight where your child is, which exam to aim for, and what the lessons and fees would look like. Whether you carry on is up to you. It depends on your child's level and goal, and whether you choose a small group or 1-on-1 — so I don't post one price online. Start with the free 45-minute trial; once I've confirmed your child's level I'll give you a recommendation and the fee, and you decide from there. The lesson itself is always the same shape: online video, four students at most or 1-on-1, and your child spends the whole class speaking English — not sitting and listening. No lock-in contracts, no cancellation fees.

No. There are no lock-in contracts — families can adjust or pause lessons at any time. Students stay more than three years on average, and what keeps them is visible weekly progress, not a contract.

Yes — PLI has been 100% online since day one; there is no physical classroom. Your child learns from home, and the time you'd spend on drop-offs goes into practice instead. As for results: with four students at most, your child gets called on every few minutes, which makes it harder to drift off than in a big classroom. Our Cambridge pass rate from Starters through FCE is 100% to date, and students stay an average of three-plus years — if online didn't work, families wouldn't stay that long.

Classes are taught by founder Teacher Matt — a native English speaker with 13 years of teaching experience, specializing in international/private school curricula and CEFR A1–C2 exam preparation.

Yes — no prior English needed. We take ages 5 to 18, from absolute beginner right through to FCE and TOEFL prep; YLE Starters was designed for children who are just getting going. The trial lesson shows me exactly where your child is, and that's where we start — they won't be left behind, and they won't sit through things they already know. What matters more than the starting point is sticking with it: our students stay an average of three-plus years.

The broad map: primary school is Cambridge YLE (Starters, Movers, Flyers) — results come as shields, with no pass or fail; junior high is KET and PET; senior high is FCE; students planning to study abroad add TOEFL or SAT. But what really decides it is level, not grade — two children in the same school year can be two levels apart. That's why the free trial doubles as a level assessment: when it's over, I'll tell you which level your child should sit and roughly when.

Four students at most, grouped by age and level — that's a hard cap, not an average — or 1-on-1 if you prefer. The cap is four precisely so that every child gets called on many times in every lesson. A shy child can go a whole year without speaking in a big class; in a class of four their turn comes round within minutes, and with no audience there's far less pressure. The change parents tell me about most often is that their child has started speaking up.

We track progress continuously and share personalized feedback, so you always know strengths, weaknesses, and distance to the goal.
