Cambridge Exam Dates in Taiwan: 2026 and 2027

The three centres on this page follow different rules. yle.tw registration usually closes seven to eight weeks before the exam, almost always on a Wednesday: for example, the 24 January 2027 Taipei YLE session closes on Wednesday 2 December 2026, and the 14 March 2027 Taichung session on Wednesday 20 January 2027. LTTC uses set registration windows with an opening date and a closing date: for its 5 December B2 First for Schools (FCE) session, 23 September to 15 October, and for its 12 December A2 Key / B1 Preliminary for Schools session, 23 September to 22 October. The Taipei YMCA has no single weekday; it depends on the exam. In 2026 its YLE deadlines fall on Wednesdays, its Key / Preliminary for Schools deadlines on Mondays, and its B2 First for Schools deadlines on Mondays or Tuesdays: Monday 19 October for the 6 December Taipei Key / Preliminary sitting, and Tuesday 27 October for the 12 December Taipei First sitting. Its registration is by post or at the counter, and the deadline is by postmark. Remember, too, that a sitting closes early once it is full. The only safe move is to look up the exact deadline for the session you want, rather than working it out from a pattern.

FCE for Schools: Sat 12 Dec in Taipei (Taipei YMCA), closes 27 Oct. yle.tw's 6 Dec KET/PET session in Taipei is already full. LTTC's 5 Dec FCE session in Taipei is already full. The Taipei YMCA also runs C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency on Sat 12 Dec, closing 27 Oct. The Taipei YMCA takes registrations by post or at the counter, with the deadline judged by postmark; it does not publish how many places are left, so an unexpired deadline does not guarantee a place. Call before you register. December's sittings are the last of 2026 at these three centres; after them, the next dates are on the 2027 calendars.

Taiwan has several Cambridge exam centres, and each publishes its own schedule, so there is no single fixed number of sittings per year. This page covers three of them: yle.tw holds public sessions in Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Taichung and Tainan; LTTC’s are in Taipei and Taichung; the Taipei YMCA’s are in Taipei, with two YLE sittings in Hsinchu in each of 2026 and 2027. Taipei has by far the most dates at these three centres. Across their published 2026 and 2027 schedules, none of the three lists a sitting in Kaohsiung, New Taipei, Keelung, Miaoli or Penghu; Zhubei has the Taipei YMCA’s two 2027 Hsinchu YLE sittings (30 May and 26 September), at Dongxing Elementary School in Zhubei. Zhubei families can look at the Hsinchu dates, New Taipei and Keelung at Taipei’s, and Miaoli at Hsinchu’s or Taichung’s; for Kaohsiung, see the question further down. Yes, for two of the three centres. yle.tw has published its entire 2027 calendar, and the full table is on this page. Registration for the January to July sessions is open now; the August to December sessions open in November 2026. The Taipei YMCA published its full 2027 schedules on 7 October 2026, and this page has its complete YLE and for Schools tables: 15 YLE sittings (including Hsinchu on 30 May and 26 September), 15 Key / Preliminary for Schools and 8 First for Schools. At the three centres on this page, the earliest published 2027 deadlines are, in order: Wednesday 2 December 2026 for yle.tw's 24 January YLE session in Taipei, Friday 4 December for the Taipei YMCA's 23 January Key / Preliminary for Schools sitting, and Monday 7 December for the YMCA's 24 January YLE sitting. LTTC has not yet published any 2027 dates. LTTC's first 2026 sitting (10 January) closed for registration on 20 November 2025. Once LTTC publishes 2027, its earliest deadline may come before 2 December. Worth checking now.

Time first. For YLE, LTTC's stated total test times are about 50 minutes for Starters, 70 for Movers and 80 for Flyers (Cambridge's own approximate totals are 45 minutes, 1 hour and 1 hour 15 minutes), but that excludes instructions, breaks and waiting for the Speaking test, so LTTC says to set aside half a day. A2 Key has three papers: Reading and Writing 1 hour, Listening 30 minutes, Speaking 8–10 minutes per pair. B1 Preliminary has four: Reading 45 minutes, Writing 45 minutes, Listening 30 minutes, Speaking 10–12 minutes per pair. B2 First has four: Reading and Use of English 1 hour 15 minutes, Writing 1 hour 20 minutes, Listening about 40 minutes, Speaking 14 minutes per pair. Now the cost. yle.tw and LTTC charge the same: Starters NT$2,100, Movers NT$2,200, Flyers NT$2,300, KET for Schools NT$2,400, PET for Schools NT$2,600. The B2 First for Schools fee of NT$3,900 is LTTC's published fee. The Taipei YMCA's fees are printed on the registration form its site links to (a form whose file is dated 2025), and they match yle.tw and LTTC for all three YLE levels and the for Schools versions of KET, PET and FCE; confirm with the centre when you register. These are the fees as read in September 2026, so check the centre's site when you register.

You may find them, but they are no use for registering: yle.tw and LTTC publish each year's sittings fresh, and an old year's dates and deadlines don't carry over. What a parent actually needs now is the rest of 2026 and the 2027 calendar, and both are on this page. If what you really want is a rough sense of when exams happen so you can plan preparation, the most reliable way is still to work back from the latest published dates.

It depends on your child's starting point, but 3 to 6 months of regular lessons is generally enough to walk in prepared. If the exam is only about 8 weeks away, shift the focus: exam format, listening and speaking, rather than new vocabulary. And because registration usually closes 7 to 8 weeks before the exam, put the deadline in your calendar the moment you decide to sit.

Across the three centres on this page, the last two B2 First for Schools sittings of 2026 (the exam most people still call FCE) are both in Taipei, and one is still open to register for: the LTTC (Language Training & Testing Center) at National Taiwan University on 5 December, which is full, and the Taipei YMCA on 12 December, which closes Tuesday 27 October (registration by post or at the counter, deadline by postmark). Both December sittings are the for Schools version; LTTC's is restricted to students in senior high school and below. LTTC has only two FCE sittings in 2026 (13 June has passed), and 12 December is also the YMCA's last FCE sitting of the year. If you miss this one, the next is in 2027: the Taipei YMCA has published its 2027 FCE for Schools dates (in the 2027 section higher up this page), the first being Saturday 6 March 2027, closing Friday 15 January 2027; LTTC's 2027 schedule is not out yet. The honest answer: neither yle.tw's published public schedule (2026 and 2027) nor LTTC's (2026) has a Kaohsiung sitting. The Taipei YMCA, however, lists three Kaohsiung registration offices, all independent language centres: KNS' (07) 550-5611, UneedQ 瀀尼課 (07) 711-6680 and Great Vision 異象 (07) 958-4927. Their exam dates and venues differ from Taipei's and are not on its website, so if you want to sit in Kaohsiung, call one of them. If you travel, the nearest public dates on this page for the rest of 2026 are in Taichung and Taipei; in 2027 yle.tw has a 29 August YLE sitting in Tainan, the closest of these cities to Kaohsiung.
